All Rainforest Diaries

Nestled deep within the Buderim rainforest, The Sandstone House is more than my home—it is the heart of my creative life and the soul of my artistic practice. Built from warm, ancient stone, the house feels as though it grew from the earth itself, harmonising effortlessly with the lush landscape that surrounds it.

Here, nature is not something outside the windows—it is a living, breathing presence woven into every moment. Light filters through tall canopies, tracing soft patterns across the stone walls. Rainfall gathers into gentle streams that whisper through the forest. Birds nest nearby, their songs forming part of the daily rhythm. It is a setting that naturally invites stillness, grounding, and creativity.

This rainforest sanctuary profoundly shapes my work as an Australian mixed-media artist. The textures of the sandstone, the shifting colours of the earth, and the intricate patterns found in bark, seed pods, and lichen inspire both the palette and texture of my pieces. Slow living here is not a lifestyle choice—it is the only rhythm that makes sense.

My studio sits beside the rainforest garden, where herbs, greens, and native plants grow in quiet abundance. I often gather natural materials from the land to incorporate into my art: soil, fibres, fallen leaves, fragments of stone. These elements anchor my work in place, allowing each artwork to become a true reflection of the environment that birthed it.

The Sandstone House is a sanctuary for the senses—a place where creativity is nourished, where nature offers its daily teachings, and where inspiration is found in the smallest, quietest details. It is where my art, my rituals, and my way of living all converge.

My hope is that through my artwork and the stories I share, you can feel a touch of the rainforest's grace and beauty from wherever you are. This house is my muse, my grounding, and the heart of everything I create.
